Tune-ups
Basic Tune-Up (Recommended!)
The basic tune-up is designed with the average rider in mind. We go over the entire bike, cleaning, adjusting and lubricating. We assess part wear and recommend part replacement. Here’s what’s included:
-Brake Alignment and Adjustment
-Cable Tension Testing
-Shifting/Derailleur Adjustment
-Chain-wear Analysis
-Straighten (True) Wheels
-Inflate Tires to Proper Pressure
-Replace Tubes as Necessary (parts are additional)
-Total Bolt Tension Check
-Bike Cleaning

Performance Tune-Up
The performance tune-up designed for frequent all-weather riders. The Performance Tune includes all aspects of the Basic Tune and adds:
-Drive Train Removal and Cleaning
-Remove Chain
-Soak/Clean/Relubricate
-Remove Front/Rear Derailleur
-Check for Signs of Wear
-Disassemble/Clean/Relubricate/Reassemble
-Align Dereilleur Hanger
-Straighten (True) Wheels with Greater Precision
-Stress-test Shifting/Derailleur
Performance Overhaul
The performance tune-up designed for serious riders. The Performance Overhaul includes all aspects of the Basic and Performance Tunes and adds:
-Frame Stripped Completely Down
-Bottom Bracket Removal/Inspection/Relubrication/Reinstallation
-Headset Removal/Bearing Inspection/Relubrication/Reinstallation
-Cables/Housing All Replaced
-Hubs Disassembled/Bearings Inspected/Bearings Replaced as Necessary (parts are additional)/Bearings Repacked/Reassembled
-All moving parts Inspected/Relubricated and Reassembled
-Bike Completely Reassembled and Tested

Bike Building
Got a bike somewhere else and need someone you trust to build it? We don’t care if you got it from a competitor locally or from the internet, we’ll give you a hand. The mechanics at the Montclair Bikery have experience with all kinds of bikes from all over the world. We can get your bike put together safely and quickly. Call us to schedule an appointment to drop off the bike for assembly.
General Repairs
Gears grinding when you shift? Brakes not stopping as fast as they used to? Hear a funny clicking sound when you’re pedaling? Leave your worries behind and bring your bike to us! We’ll get you back on the road in no time. The mecahnics at the Montclair Bikery can diagnose and repair your problem.
Some things to be aware of:
-Most people run their tires underinflated. This has the same effect on your bike as it has on your car: it is more difficult to pedal and you’re more likely to get a flat, damaging not only your tube, but also your tire and wheel! Bring your bike into us and we’ll make sure you’re running at the right PSI!
-When you hear your chain grind, see us right away! The chain is an expensive part of the bike, and any grinding noise you hear is causing unnecessary wear and tear. Our qualified mechanics can sort what the problem is and get you back on your bike in no time!
-Have you been hit by a car? Bring your bike in immediately! Your bike may have been damaged in a way that isn’t visible to you, but we have the tools to check. We can also give you an itemized bill to help you in your insurance claim and in many cases can even order a new bike for you to replace the one you lost. Trust the mechanics at the Montclair Bikery to make sure you get back on the road as soon as possible!
-Is your headset loose? One of the major causes of broken frames and damaged bearings is riding with a loose headset. Sometimes you can’t even feel that it’s loose, the bike just doesn’t steer as smoothly. Let us take a look at it. Our mechanics are experienced in detecting small problems like this and fixing them on the spot!
-Is your seat too high? Your brakes to loose? Your shifting not as responsive? Your kickstand loose? Are your pedals damaged? For all your bike problems, stop by and talk to our mechanics! Installing new parts can be a difficult, time-consuming and costly adventure if you don’t know what you’re doing or don’t have the tools. Trust the mechanics at the Montclair Bikery to make sure that your part is installed properly. We don’t care where you got the part from, we’re happy to help you get it installed. We can help you resolve compatibility issues and even order the part you need if you got the incorrect one. We’re here to help make sure your bike is roadworthy and fun to ride!
